Here's a little bit about the guys and gals of heropubcrawl and the history behind it.

The question most people ask is....."Why?"

Why do a number of fully grown men and women dress in spandex and go out drinking in public?

To be honest there's no one reason......

It's funny.

There's plenty of beer involved.

We're a bunch of big kids.

We've got no shame.

Secretly we ALL want to play dress up and we all wish we had super powers.

It's all of the above and more really. It started as a joke between four of us....Did we have the guts to dress up like idiots and hit the town?

It's not like it hasn't been done by a million guys and girls on their stag/hen nights. So we thought what the hell.

Thing is...being a bit obsessive compulsive (and having spent waaaaay too much time buried in comics as a kid) I couldn't let us throw on some cheap rental costumes and stagger around like every other idiot out there oooooooooh no. We had to be a better class of idiot.

The main focus of HeroPubcrawl is to make top notch costumes and have a great social event. However, as you'll notice on our links page, we do take alchohol seriously........we're not your average drunken stag / fancy dress pubcrawl. We are proud members of the Heroes Alliance UK http://www.heroesallianceuk.webs.com and enjoy raising money for the Make A Wish Foundation UK. Many of our members don't even drink.........why would they come on a pubcrawl you ask? Simply put, we want to show that it is possible to have an awesome themed event that doesn't have to end in vomit and bar fights.......Of course.....I myself do enjoy a beverage or three, so if Batman ever puts his arm around you and tells you he loves you.....don't worry, it's just the beer talking.

Hi I'm Laban, organiser of Heropubcrawl. I'm married with 2 kids, and a patient wife......

My role is to organise the event and make most of the suits along with my wife. I've been a massive comic fan since I was a kid so this is just an excuse for playtime really - with added beer of course.

Bio...

My best friend since school, it shamefully took Paul (Ozzie) two years to join us. After a gruelling year of playing Ice hockey, Paul got into the shape he wanted to be in order to be Captain America. A Teacher by day and now crime-fighter by night (well by last orders) Paul may be swayed to the dark side as he's expressed an interest in bieng the Scarecrow next year.

Ben has been with us since the first HeroPubcrawl. One of the orignial four guys that agreed to go, Ben made the biggest sacrifice so far.....Shaving off his beard for the first time in 14 years!

A history of professional photography should soon pay off as we should soon have the facilities available to take proper shots of the various costumes.

Our resident wine and fine dining expert.......is known as much for turning heads dressed as the joker as he is for asking various bar-staff what region their house special is from.

With us in our first year, Scott proved to be the perfect Plasticman, winning praise both here and in America with his perfect portrayal of the Justice League's stretchy superhero.Work commitments prevented a repeat performance in 2007 but rest assured, He'll be strapping back on the goggles for 2009 when he returns.

Munky (Adam) is my 'second in command' when it comes to prop creation.

Our resident fibreglass expert, Munky has been with us since year one and has been the most enthusiastic member of the group bar myself.

Joining us for the second HeroPubcrawl, lolli became Poison Ivy. She may have spent her first year sans booze, due to a slight case of pregnancy, but Lolli will be strutting her magical stuff in 2009 as our resident mystic Zatanna.

Traveling all the way from Blackpool, Robert really stepped up to the plate as Magneto, ready to pose for photos with kids and nubile blondes in equal measure Robert literally stopped traffic as the magnetically powered supervillain.

I met Jeannie through Dave when he moved to Blackpool. I can honestly say I've yet to meet a nicer person. Both Jeannie and her Husband Chris were more than up for the challenge of joining our rag-tag group. Set to return in 2009, the Husband and wife duo will be ready to dance the night away again.

Chris, like his wife Jeannie joined us in 2007. Having had his first character choice (The Flash) already taken, Chris was happy enough to become his superspeed nemesis Professor Zoom (Reverse Flash). Still debating whether to go all heroic in 2009 Chris may return as the Flash or might look quite fetching with a blonde goatee as the Emerald Archer......GREEN ARROW.

Another recruit from Dave's newly aquired family Sally joined us in 2007 as Pheonix. Sally had a great time and (travel and schedule permitting) should be returning in 2008.

Ollie was with us on the first HeroPubcrawl. Initially our resident chav he didn't realize that he'd actually enjoy it. Back with us for his second year (sporting an entirely new costume) Ollie's on hand to protect and serve with his recently augmented MMA fighting skills.

Profile...

Neil was literally our saviour in 2007. Matt's (Riddler) friend, he only turned up to wave goodbye to Matt. Having had our Superman cancel last minute, Neil stepped in (was dragged in ) to join us as 2007's Superman.

Ed was actually the 5th ever member to join us on HeroPubcrawl. Without a doubt the perfect Mr Incredible (plus a great guy to boot) he has shamefully abandoned his Mr Incredible persona to go all dark and brooding when he returns in 2009 as the Punisher.

Another recruit from 2007, Claire suited up as Superman's kryptonian cousin Supergirl.

What can we say about Jimmy?...........

Without Jimmy there'd be NO Heropubcrawl at all. One of the original 4 people involved, we wanted to do this, mainly to see Jimmy as the Boy Wonder (well blunder). An all round good sport (bar the odd drunken tantrum) Jimmy is always ready for a giggle.

Sadly unable to return in 2007 due to work commitments, Jimmy is ready to go next time and has staked his claim to play Benjamin Grimm...THE THING.

Characters - Two-Face

Bio...

A former work colleague of mine, Tiddy was gutted when he couldn't make our first event in 2006. Still he more than made up for it in 2007 when he stepped out as the villianous Two-Face. He went at with gusto, both in character and in consumption. Set to return, new and improved in 2009 You'll find Tiddy partying up a storm whilst promoting the event, expect to be jumped on at some point (particularly if you happen to be female.....)

Her first time out with us was as Catwoman in 2007, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who has a bad word to say about Steph. Always happy and outgoing, Steph is going to have to try her best to be bad when she returns in 2009 as Poison Ivy.

Tiddy's flatmate and a new recruit for 2007, Matty was full of enthusiasm on the day. Whether very nearly flying (with the aid of a trampoline) or going crazy in Mercy nightclub, Matty had a great night and is set to return in 2009 as the wallcrawler himself...Spiderman.

A former work colleague of mine Josh is as polite and well mannered a superhero as you're ever likely to meet. Our resident Reed Richards, Josh is not lacking in the Brain department himself, currently studying Law.

Ahem.......Dave is Dave.......that kinda sums him up.

The entire idea of a costume party sprang from arranging Dave's housewarming. One of the original four, Dave got all clean cut to play Superman for us (seeing as he's 6ft 3inches It was perfect). After realising that Superman is all noble and good, Dave decided to go a little  rougher round the edges and switched to Thor for our second outing. Arming Dave with a mystical hammer may not have been the best idea, but as usual we managed to divert his attention with copious amounts of beer.........Now happily married (and almost under control) to Andrea (Power Girl) Dave can always be relied upon to rid the world of evil evil beer.

The one and only woman I've ever known who can keep Dave under control (within reason). Andrea joined us in 2007 and celebrated both the HeroPubcrawl and her and Dave's stag/hen night. Soon to give birth to their own little superhero, we will wait and see if Andrea's schedule allows a return in 2009.

My Little Bro......

Adam was with us since year one. Let's forget he dressed as the Punisher the first year as he, without a doubt, makes the perfect Robin. Ever the sidekick to my batman, my Bro Adam is always ready to swing into battle or buy the next round (as long as I'm paying).

After the four of us had agreed to go. Matt found out and flat out demanded to join us. Our resident Riddler Matt fits the character perfectly as most people struggle to understand what he's talking about most of the time anyway.....:)

Whether he's scaling lamposts or pouncing on the next group of unsuspecting young ladies, Matt always has a ready quip (plus bieng the only member of our troupe who managed to keep all of his personal belongings in his purple briefs).

With us from year one is Jack. Always full of enthusiasm, Jack stepped out in 2006 as black suited Spiderman (and wound up alone in an R+B club dressed as such) and returned in 2007 (due to a last minute costume substitution) as our electrically charged (if slightly skinny) Electro.
